Sounds

SAY sounds like the English “s”. There are two other letters that sound like “s” in Urdu: SEEN (س) and SWĀD (ص). They are not interchangeable: you must learn which words use which letter. SEEN is the most common, SWĀD is next most common, and SAY is quite rare.
