Urdu Alphabet Tutorial
This tutorial will take you through the Urdu Alphabet, introducing the letters in small batches based on frequency of use and similarities of form, rather than on actual Urdu alphabetical order.
You should familiarize yourself with the letters in the order given. After learning each batch of letters, there are reading and writing exercises to help you understand how these letters combine into words.
Before starting the exercises, you may wish to go to the Extras section of the Alphabet Module and read about Vowels and Tashdeed. For those who know the Hindi alphabet (Devanagari), there are also “Hindi Hints” in the exercises. Try to do the exercises by “ear” first.
